Bentwood Elementary opened in the fall of 1996 and our mascot is the blue jay. Enrollment has ranged from a low of 435 students in 1996-1997 to 610 students in 1998-1999. Current enrollment is 532. Although Bentwood Elementary is part of the Olathe District Schools, it is located in the city of Overland Park, Kansas. Overland Park is the largest city in Johnson County. Olathe, the third largest school district in Kansas, is also the fastest growing district, gaining approximately 700 students per year. Presently there are 32 elementary schools (grades K-6), eight junior high schools (grades 7-9), and four senior high schools (grades 10-12).
