Message from Mrs. Richards
School Bus Information--Payrider Fees
Dear Students and Families, GOOD NEWS!! During the summer I enjoy looking forward to the excitement of the new school year ahead. This year we will celebrate Briarwood’s 20 th birthday during the first month of school and continue celebrating community, cooperation, and success throughout the year!We are very excited to welcome a new group of professionals to our team of amazing teachers at Briarwood. Our sixth grade students will work with Mr. Michael Mauro and Ms. Kathryn Leo as well as Ms. Tammy Colburn. In fifth grade we welcome Ms. Aimee Klimek, who will join Mrs. Cheri Armstrong and Ms. Tara Heitmeyer. Our fourth grade team continues to consist of Mrs. Melissa Sullivan, Mrs. Kristin Kuehn, and Mr. Cory Martens. In third grade we welcome Ms. Melissa Javillionar who joins Mrs. Susan Newman and Mrs. Tina Brummer. Our second grade classes will be located together this year and consist of Ms. Kallista Grueneich, Ms. Wendy Nagel, and Ms. Michelle Reese. Our first grade team will continue to be Mrs. Rebecca Conner, Mrs. Marsha Butler, and Mrs. Linda Rodriguez. We are thrilled to offer two full-day kindergarten classes in addition to one half-day session. Teaching full-day kindergarten will be Mrs. Margaret Garrett and Mrs. Linda Maggard. We welcome Ms. Misty Tanaka who will be teaching morning kindergarten. In Early Childhood we will continue to have Mrs. Anita Pierson but will welcome a new teacher to take the place of Mrs. Lisa Payne who has moved to Manhattan, Kansas due to her husband’s job transfer. The Briarwood staff would also like to welcome onboard our new art instructor, Tabbatha Householder. Watch for interesting facts about our new staff members in August! In addition to our new staff members, many of the classes at Briarwood will have a new location. Changes have been made this summer to help make classes easier to find for parents and community members by following a sequential order as much as possible. When the new year begins, be sure to check into the office and we will be happy to orient you to our new building layout! Well the building is still in the progress of being prepped for students and there is still much to be done before August 14 when the students return. In the meantime, I wanted to give you a sneak peak of what to expect this school year and invite you to keep an eye on this website. The school calendar on this site already has some events on it but will be updated by the end of July. You will also be able to find out your child’s class placement online this year with directions for this procedure late in July. With hopes that you are having a relaxing summer and you are keeping your children reading (this is a HUGE help in keeping them from losing progress over the summer)! Sincerely,
More McGruff homes are needed in our community. If you are interested in providing a safe haven for Briarwood children, please contact the school office at (913) 780-7430. Thank you!
Big G Box Tops and Campbells Soup Labels What an awesome and overwhelming response we received from our Briarwood families so far this year! All profits received will go to our library. This year, every two months the class that collects the most box tops and labels combined will receive an ice cream party!
The PTO is working in conjunction with Catholic Charities to help bring needed support to families in need. Please consider sending a donation of canned or boxed goods to Briarwood during the coming months. Your donation will be given directly to this charity. The food drive will be on-going throughout the school year. All donations are greatly appreciated.
TBA: Dinning Out and Fun Run (Spring)
