Champions Special Ministries Day Camp – Summer 2020 posted on February 13th, 2020

Champions Special Ministries (CSM) is a nonprofit organization offering national and international day camps for children and youth adults with an intellectual, cognitive or physical disability.  CSM camp consists of 5 days of high-energy, high fun activities including games, sports, dance, arts, crafts, Bible stories, worship, music, and themed parties.

Johnson County Community College offers many opportunities for your student entering grades 6-12 this summer.  Camps begin June 1 and continues for 10 weeks through the week of August 3.  Choose from a wide variety of classes in technology, LEGO, STEM, Coding, Babysitter’s training, Photoshop, Robotics, Spanish, art, sewing, calligraphy, career explorations, and tons more!  Registration began February 3.

The Olathe Noon Lions Club presents the 30th Annual Olathe Free Health Fair Saturday, March 7, 8 am-11:00 am at the Olathe Community Center.  Providers will screen for high blood pressure, skin damage, hearing loss, heart and lung health, cholesterol, vision loss, mouth cancer, children’s vision loss and much more!

If you are a parent, teacher or caregiver of an individual with special needs, or a self advocate, please come!  Hosted by Blue Valley Schools on Thursday, February 27, 5-8:00 p.m. at the Hilltop Conference Center.  Over 100 vendors representing various disabilities, information on camps and other recreational opportunities, therapies, equipment, adult/transition services, financial/legal, health and wellness and more.

Boys and girls in Kindergarten through Gr. 4 can register online for the Olathe Parks and Rec Spring Soccer Leagues.  League play starts April 4 and the registration deadline is March 6. 

Youth Volleyball Gr. 3-6 – Olathe Parks and Rec posted on January 10th, 2020

Students in grades 3-6 can register for the Olathe Parks and Rec Youth Volleyball League.  Games begin April 4.  Your applications may be made online.  These leagues provide an environment which emphasizes fun, safety, participation, skills development and sportsmanship.

On-line registration begins January 2 through March 15.  Players register by current grade in the school year 2019=20.  Practices and games begin in April.  Season ends mid-June, with a City championship tournament for all grades following the regular season.

2020 Centennial Celebration – 19th Amendment posted on November 14th, 2019

On February 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. the Johnson County League of Women Voters are hosting a Centennial Celebration Event for the passage of the 19th Amendment at Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College.  Featured speaker is Rosie Rios, 43rd Treasurer of the United States.  Rios is currently leading Empowerment 2020, a movement that focuses on the recognition of historic American women and advocates for women in leadership positions.  Additional information and tickets are available at www.lwvjoco.org/events/lwv-centennial-celebration/.

Champions Special Ministries – Volunteer Opportunity posted on June 19th, 2019
