KC SuperStar 2017 Auditions posted on March 27th, 2017

Kansas City’s own version of “The Voice” – KC SuperStar – will hold preliminary auditions this Wednesday, March 29, 4-8:30 and Sunday, April 2 (1-5 p.m.) in the search to find our town’s top high school singer.  Auditions are at the Jewish Community Campus, 5801 W. 115th St. in Overland Park.  The competition is open to any area high school singer.  The top prize is a $10,000 scholarship with additional prizes for other finalists.

Easter Egg Hunt posted on March 23rd, 2017

Legacy Christian Church is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for children preschool-grade 5 at their Olathe campus (159th and Black Bob).  Families are invited to this free event featuring a petting zoo, glitter tattoos, snacks and prizes in addition to the egg hunt. 

2017 Garmin Munchkin Marathon and Family Run posted on March 20th, 2017

The Olathe Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2017 Garmin Marathon Munchkin Marathon & Family Run Saturday, April 22.  Children Kindergarten – 8th grade may compete in their own mini-marathon for FREE.  Kids will “train” by logging 25 miles of walking or running independently in the months leading up to the race, then run the final 1.2 miles on race day.  Each registered Munchkin receives a race number, t-shirt, goodies bag and a medal.

The Olathe Police Foundation is organizing a 7.04 miles/5K run in memory of Officer Michael Kern Saturday, May 20 at the College Church of the Nazarene.  The 704 Blue Run is a family-oriented fun event with the purpose of raising funds to establish college scholarships for Olathe Police Department families.

Are you looking for funding to support school physical activity projects and nutrition initiatives for this school year?  Action for Healthy Kids is now accepting School Grants for Healthy Kids applications from state schools with active parents and PTAs for the 2017-18 school year.  Funding can be used to support initiatives such as:  recess, play space/gymnasium refurbishing, physical education equipment, classroom physical activity breaks, nutrition education, school gardens, healthy celebrations and more!  Deadline:  April 7, 2017

The 2nd Annual Noah’s Crown Town 5K is Saturday, April 29 at Corporate Woods in Overland Park.  Agape Montessori School and the family of Noah Wilson, an Olathe student who passed away from his struggle with cancer, are partnering to organize this annual event.  Members of the Kansas City Royals will be present.
