Special Requirements: To be eligible for the AVID Future Teachers Scholarship Program, students must:

  • Be admitted to Newman University
  • Be a current or past AVID student
  • Complete the AVID Future Teachers Scholarship Application or the Wichita Public Schools Grow Your Own Teacher Scholarship Application form
  • Have a HS GPA of 2.75 or higher or Cumulative College GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Provide two (2) recommendations (one must be from a school official)
  • Complete interview process

In order to maintain the scholarship, students must achieve the requisite grade point average and meet all conditions of acceptance to the teacher education program. Students will commit to 30 hours of tutoring services each semester (total of 60 hours per year) to AVID students within the Wichita Public schools.

Special Requirements: Scholarship Criteria
Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.  You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

How to Apply
Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to the following question:

What are your dreams for your future?  When you look back on your life in thirty years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful?

Special Requirements: The Morning Grange #227 Scholarship Fund will benefit students who are planning to attend a college or vocational school who have attended high school in the Olathe, Gardner, and Spring Hill areas.  The students eligible for assistance are as follows:

  • GPA of 2.5 or better in high school.  This must be maintained in college also.
  • The school must be approved by the federal government for student aid.
  • The recipient must maintain full time student status as defined by the attending institution.
  • The recipient must be pursuing an undergraduate degree or attending a vocational or trade school.
  • Morning Grange #227 members will be exempt from residency requirements.  A Grange member is defined as a member of good standing or related to a member in good standing by no more than two generations – grandparent, parent or grandchild.
  • Recipient is eligible to renew the Morning Grange #227 scholarship.
