Science Olympiad Regionals Results- (February 22) Held at JCCC, Olathe South’s Science Olympiad Team competed at the Northeast Kansas Regionals Competition against twenty two other area schools. South captured a fourth place team finish, which qualifies the squad for the state competition in Wichita on Saturday, April 5. Team members secured individual medals by placing in the top six in over half the twenty three total events that day. Congratulations to the Olathe South DECA Team that competed at DECA State this past weekend. The team consisted of President Jessica Cone, Keyona Damm, Alexis Piseno, Coleman Puett, Murphy Hogan, and Jonah Smith. The team won numerous awards including: Jessica Cone - 4th place in Accounting Applications Role Play 1, 4th place overall in Accounting Applications, 4th place in Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling; Alexis Piseno - 5th place in Apparel and Accessories Role Play 2 and 8th place overall; Murphy Hogan and Jonah Smith - 4th in Sports and Entertainment Team Decision Making Role Plays 1 and 2 and 3rd place overall. Jonah Smith also placed 5th in Professional Selling while Murphy Hogan placed 2nd in Professional Selling. Jessica, Alexis, Murphy and Jonah all earned a place at Nationals. Please congratulate our DECA team and wish them luck as they compete in Atlanta in May!
The OS Boys & Girls Bowling teams had a fantastic day at the State Championships yesterday (March 6th). The Boys team consisting of seniors Austin Bader, Alex Lockwood; juniors Quentin Miller, Will Illian, Kaelan Harmon and sophomore Justin Maxwell placed 4th. Austin Bader received an 8th place & Will Illian a 3rd place Individual medal. The Girls team with seniors Mackenzie Mitchell, Taylor Cuba, Erica Haake and juniors Makaela Harmon & Morgan Sheehan rolled to a 3rd Place bringing home their first ever State trophy! Mackenzie Mitchell received a 4th place Individual medal and Morgan Sheehan received 17th & Makaela Harmon 19th Individual medals. Way to go Falcons & congratulations on a fabulous season!
