International Languages Courses
French 6
This course is a brief, nine week introduction to the French language and culture. Students will learn greetings, courtesies, numbers, colors and other basic vocabulary for communication. Students will also explore geography, cultural difference,s holidays and customs of French-speaking people around the world.
Spanish 6
This course is a basic, nine week introduction to the Spanish language and culture. Students will study units that include common vocabulary about family, clothing, numbers, telling time, weather, school, animals, etc. Topics from the elementary Spanish program will be expanded. the geography of Spanisho-speaking countries and its people and customs will be studied.
French 7/8 - Beyond Basic French
This course reviews and expands the French 6 topics. Students also explroe French cuisine, student life in France, history, sports, cultural differences, holidays and customs of French-speaking people around the world. Students are exposed to beginning grammar concepts which will be further develoepd in French. Guided Enrollment Note: Students are encouraged to take this course before taking French I.
Spanish 7/8 - Beyond Basic Spanish
This course reviews and builds upon the Elementary Spanish program and Spanish 6 curriculum. Students explore Spanisho-speaking countries, focusing on their cultural differences, holidays and customs. Students also learn more extensive grammar concepts and vocabulary that includes greetings and farewells, professions, food, sports, a day at school, clothing, etc. These beginning grammar concepts are further developed in Spanish I. Guided Enrollment Note: Students are encouraged to take this course before taking Spanish I.
French I
This class is designed to meet the needs of students who have had little or no experience in learning French as a foreigh language. Students can expect to understand, speak, read and write French in the context of ordinary, daily situations. Students study grammar and basic vocabulary, identify relationships between languages and cultures, and demonstrate an increasing awareness of the civilization and customs of the people of French-speaking countries. In order to promote language proficiency, much of this class in taught in French.
Spanish I
This class is designed to meet the needs of students who have had little or no experience in learning Spanish as a foreign language. Students can expect to understand, speak, read and write Spanish in the context of ordinary, daily situations. Students study grammar and basic vocabulary, identify relationships between languages and cultures, and demonstrate an increasing awareness of the civilization and customs of the people of Spanish-speaking countries. In order to promote language proficiency, much of this class is taught in Spanish.
