Holiday Mart !!

Saturday, December 6, 2008
10:00 - 1:00 PM

Countryside is having a Holiday Mart which will feature fun gifts for kids to purchase for the special brothers, sisters, mom, dad, or other people in their life. Vendors with unique gifts for all ages will be displayed next door.  The sixth grade students are helping with the whole event to help sponsor their 6th Grade Appreciation Celebration.  Kids can come and shop for parent gifts with the help of a 5th or 6th grade buddy while mom or dad go next door for some yummy treats and shopping of their own.  The kids will leave with wrapped packages for the people on their lists, full of surprises for their family.

If you are interested in helping with this fun event, please contact Kelli Carlson at kcarlsoncs@olatheschools.com

Holiday Party Information!!

Classroom parties will be Thursday, December 18th, at 2:30 pm.  The class party money will be available in the office beginning Monday, Dec. 15th and should be about $13.

www.gamekids.com (game ideas)

www.celebrationcorner.com (food ideas)

www.foodnetwork.com (food ideas)

Party Planning...

Begin your party planning by chatting with the classroom teacher about his/her preferences. You may discover the teacher prefers to have the students plan some parts of the party, or the teacher may have ideas on time frames/rotations that work best for that particular age and grade level. From here you’ll know how to coordinate your other parent helpers and how many activities you’ll need.

You might find it helpful to break the kids into small groups and rotate them to three or four stations. You may consider a snack/food creation station, a craft station, and one or more game stations. Whole group bingo or whole group story time can be great as wrap-up activities. Older children may enjoy music and chat time.

Younger children may prefer such things as pin the tail/nose on the seasonal character, bingo, and decorating cookies. Older children may prefer Thumbs Up 7 Up, Charades, Win-Lose-or Draw, Name that Tune, and more adult-like food such pizza rolls or brownies.

Party Food...

Please also consider healthy snack options as you plan your party. Specifically ask parents to avoid red, grape, or other dark-staining drinks to preserve the beauty of our classrooms and clothing.

Reimbursement

There is a small stipend to help reimburse room parents for their costs (often around $10 and can be picked up in the office). Room parents may want to consider asking other parents for specific craft supply, food, or paper product donations via a note send home through the teacher. Check with the teacher for who has already signed up to help.

Questions?

Please feel free to call the Room Parent Chairperson or the PTO Board. csptopresident@yahoo.com

Thank you for giving the gift of a party to the children and your classroom teacher. Countryside PTO appreciates you so very much!
