What we did during the 1st semester!

Computer Learning Curriculum
The CLA curriculum is based on the National Educational Technology Standards which has been adopted by the state of Kansas as their benchmarks for student achievement in the area of technology.

Cyber Safety

Major Components covered at each grade level include:
Pre-school--Mouse Skills, recognize numbers and letters on the keyboard, mouse skill websites
Kindergarten--Computer parts, mouse skills, recognize numbers and letters on the keyboard, Microsoft Word and Paint, and Internet safety.
1st grade--Computer parts and terminology, mouse skills, recognize numbers and letters on keyboard, home row keys, Microsoft Word, Paint and PowerPoint, open a saved document, print a document, Internet Safety
2nd grade--Reinforce 1st grade skills as well as basic file management, create folders on H drive, create a document in word, PowerPoint and save to folder on H drive, open a document from O drvie and save to H drive, print, open a bookmarked Internet site and Internet safety, A keyboarding program is added in 4th quarter.
3rd & 4th grade--Keyboarding is a major component of Computer Learning time. We use Type to Learn and various internet keyboarding sites for this instruction. Additional instruction is given on Word, PowerPoint, Paint, and Excel and Kidspiration. Internet safety is covered in a more comprehensive manner.
5th grade--Keyboarding continues to be a major component of Comptuer Learning. Bernie's Typing Travels and various internety keyboarding sites are used. File management, advanced instruction in word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Internet safety, and Inspiration, digital camera are additional components.
6th grade-Keyboarding continues to be a major component of Comptuer Learning. Bernie's Typing Travels and various internety keyboarding sites are used. File management, advanced instruction in word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Internet safety, and Inspiration, digital camera, multi-media projects are additional components.
6th grade are assessed in two areas:
**Keyboarding: pre and post test measuring accuracy and speed
**Microsoft Office products
