Olathe East High School provides students with a tremendous education in a safe and caring environment. Not only do our students learn and excel to the highest level academically, they are also quite successful in our performing arts and athletic programs. We are proud that many of our students also provide service to both our school and community. Olathe East High School was recognized as a National School of Excellence in 1998 by the U. S. Department of Education. Our tradition of excellence continues!

Finals Schedule
The end of the school year is fast approaching and finals are right around the corner. The final schedules are:
Seniors:
- Tuesday May 15 - Hours 1, 3, 5 and 7
- Wednesday, May 16 - Hours 2, Seminar, 4 and 6
Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors:
- Thursday, May 17 - Regular Seven Hour Day, no late start
- Friday, May 18 - Regular Seven Hour Day
- Monday, May 21 - Hours 2, Seminar, 4 and 6
- Tuesday, May 22 - Hours 1 and 5, Dismissal at 11:15 a.m.
- Wednesday, May 23 - Hours 3 and 7, Dismissal at 11:15 a.m.

Summer Athletic Camps
Olathe East coaches will be holding various athletic camps throughout the summer for students as young as five. There will be camps for track, volleyball, softball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball and tennis. The summer camp flyer lists all the camps available. Players can register for one or more camp, but the checks need to be made payable to the coach listed for each event. If you have questions about the camp, please contact the listed coach.

Blue Star Nominations
Congratulations to the cast, crew, and orchestra of The Who’s Tommy for the following Blue Star Nominations:

The Blue Star Awards will be presented at Starlight Theatre on May 24th at 7:30 pm.
French Students Receive Top Honors at National French Contest
Congratulations to the following students on placing in the top 10 in Kansas in the National French Contest:

Olathe Culinary Team Wins First Place
Congratulations to the Olathe Culinary Team who took first place in a national competition on April 28, 2012. Brandon Ramirez, OE senior, is a proud member of that team. He is showing the medal he won.
OE Students Have Success At Latin Competition
Congratulations to the Olathe East Latin students – they took 3rd place at the state Latin Convention. The team of Elizabeth Martin, Chris Opperman, Snigdha Sharma, and Jessica Sottile took first place in Latin II Certamen, which is similar to Quiz Bowl.
The following students won individual awards:
In Latin I, Linda Vu took 2nd place in Vocabulary, Taylor Boatman took 3rd place in Latin Oratory, Jared Johnstone took 4th place in Roman Life, and Steffi Fink took 5th place in 2D Art.
In Latin II, Jessica Sottile took 1st place in Reading Comprehension and 3rd place in Roman Life, Elizabeth Martin took 2nd place in Roman Life, tied for 2nd place in Mottoes, Phrases, and Abbreviations, and 4th place in Latin Oratory,
Chris Opperman took 2nd place in Latin Oratory and 2nd place in Sight Reading, and Snigdha Sharma took 2nd place in Latin Oratory, tied for 2nd place in Mottoes, Phrases, and Abbreviations, 2nd place in Vocabulary, and 4th place in Grammar.
In Latin III, Garrett Mehl took 4th place in Derivatives and 4th place in Sight Reading.
127th Street Construction Update
