On Jan 28th, students in the Public Safety Academy, located at Olathe West High School – Official, were surprised during a top secret presentation. A fire engine, driven by Fire Rescue instructor, Captain Danny Rafols, pulled up to the school. By way of a generous donation, the Olathe Public Schools Foundation helped provide students a retired fire engine from a neighboring community. During the ceremony, Principal Novacek was handed the “key.” Chief DeGraffenreid spoke to students regarding this opportunity.
Working with our amazing community partners, the Olathe Public Schools Foundation, the City of Olathe Fire Department and a neighboring community brought a real-world learning experience to Public Safety Academy students. We cannot begin to adequately thank our community, our partners and our Board of Education for their continued support. Students are prepared for *THEIR* future because of you.
